A note to our loyal RIGHTALK listeners.

For four years, RIGHTALK has strived to bring our audience a conservative alternative to NPR and the list of "A-list" conservative guests that we have brought to our audience is almost endless. Unfortunately, we must now suspend our Internet operations.

RIGHTALK has been run essentially as a philanthropy, i.e., out of our own pockets, because an Internet-sized audience for the type of programming that we did is not large enough to be advertiser supported no matter how good the programming is and we have not solicited nor received support from institutional donors. While we are able to do professional grade broadcasting for a tiny fraction of what it typically costs, producing the type of high quality programming that our audience has come to expect with a dozen digital phone lines, ISDN, multiple high bitrate streams, and fully engineered shows is still expensive. Overhead alone, without any salaries (what's a salary?), is $150,000 a year.

The radical Left will be spending many tens of millions of dollars on their broadcasting propaganda this year alone, mostly in non-commercial, non-profit broadcasting on three, 24/7 satellite TV channels and 700+ am/fm stations. By "radical left", we don't mean the usual NPR/BBC fare (which is bad enough), we mean the most virulent, socialist propaganda imaginable. We mean Marxist, pro-terrorist, anti-American hate from people who are bent on destroying this country and who are relentless in their attempts to do it.

We would rather not give them any publicity here, but this propaganda is being broadcast on over-the-air am/fm stations in 46 out of 50 states every single day. You may not have heard it yet but it's out there and trust us, it's much worse than you think. We cannot understate the magnitude and danger of this threat to our country and every effort, to include conservative programming on public radio stations, needs to be made to counter this assault.

By contrast, RIGHTALK has been run at great personal sacrifice directly out of the pockets of two ordinary people along with our fine broadcasters who just love their country and wanted to fill a niche that commercial, conservative broadcasting doesn't always cover.

For as long as anyone can remember, conservatives have been complaining about leftwing bias in public radio/tv. To date, little or nothing has been done about it. Harping on de-funding the tax money that public broadcasting gets is a waste of time, it isn't going to happen. In any event, tax money funding of public radio only amounts to 10% of their budget and their whining about needing tax money notwithstanding, they wouldn't miss a beat if they lost it. We're subsidizing the leftwing propaganda machine now and we're going to continue to keep paying for it. Instead of talking about removing tax dollars from public radio it would be better to try to beat them from within at their own game.

33% of the listeners to public radio news/talk format are Republicans / Independents who lean Republican. That translates to a minimum of 2.3 million listeners a week who would listen to a conservative message - if it were available. Can the Right really afford to ignore 2.3 million listeners a week when they're the most educated and affluent radio listeners there are? We've been subsidizing our own demise with public radio for 50 years. Why aren't we using public radio to get our own message across?

As great as Rush and his counterparts in commercial radio are, they can’t be everywhere. The Right needs to be everywhere the Left is and be there in force. The Right needs to make public radio a part of an integrated attack strategy on all fronts.

RIGHTALK has produced a detailed and terrifying survey of the magnitude of the threat posed by radical, leftwing, non-commercial propaganda broadcasting - which has grown exponentially in the last 6 years largely under the radar of the Right. You can be sure that the Marxist propaganda attack on America is massive, organized, dangerous, and effective. The KGB Broadcasting Network is on the air at a college radio station near you.

We have also developed a detailed plan to produce non-commercial, conservative programming that would be made available to those public and otherwise non-commercial radio stations that might want to carry it. There are in fact, public radio stations that would carry conservative programming - we've heard from them.

Since our goal has always been to get the good word out to as many people as possible, we have determined that at this point in time, the best use of our limited resources is to pursue taking our conservative broadcasting the next level. We would like to take the fight right to where the enemy lives - public radio. We would like for our audience to be able to hear us commercially uninterrupted, on their car radios - not just on the internet.

What we need to take on the Left in public radio is a person(s) or organization with the resources and commitment to kick-start the public radio project. That means six to seven digits. If you know anyone who would be interested in finding out more about this, please let us know.

Meanwhile we would like to sincerely thank all of our loyal listeners and broadcasters for sticking with us for the past four years and God willing, we will be back bigger and better than before - on public radio.

Thanks again, and prayers are gladly accepted :)

P.S. If you think it is a worthy cause to bring conservative programming to public radio, it would be very helpful if you could jot down a short note to us about what you thought of RIGHTALK programming, what you think of public radio as it is now, and how important you think it is to have some conservative balance in public radio.
